Rachel’s thick curls rustled in the wind as the last drops from the rainstorm ran off the trees overhead. The birds tentatively emerged from their hiding spots to greet the sunshine with their little chirps in the fading hour of daylight moments before the sun dipped behind the horizon. Together Jeff and Rachel walked down the wet dirt path hand in hand. They stopped and his hand caressed her cheek as he looked deep into her eyes. She smiled and brought her hand up to rest on his neck. As they stood there holding one another I observed that look of tender love with its eager anticipation leading up to their wedding. The eager anticipation waiting to seal their vows and commit their lives to one another. The gentle embrace of new love always makes me so happy. I’m a silent player crossing the path of their lives for just a few hours. Just enough time to capture their happiness in photos. Photos, which I hope, will memorialize this brief period of their life with these happy emotions for the rest of their life. For all of their lives on down through their children, and grandchildren up until a time in the world when their life has past and the world has moved on. But even then, I hope someday, someone will pull a dusty nameless print out of an old box somewhere and be able to say “These two look in love, I wonder what their story was”.
